Serving as camp staff is a paid, all-day, everyday job for seven weeks of the summer, including a week of training. We’ll all work together to run our three OLMC programs: Explore, Sojourn, and Venture. It’s the hardest job you’ll ever be SO glad you had!

Missionary Intern

Dry Bones Ministries is looking for two full-time, onsite missionaries for a year-long internship at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Summer Camp & Retreat Center! These positions will begin in July 2025. This is a great opportunity for young adults discerning religious life, new graduates, or those looking to grow closer to Jesus by serving the youth of the Church.

Dry Bones Ministries (DBM) is a Pittsburgh-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization committed to revitalizing and sustaining the Catholic faithful. Our mission is to provide a platform that allows Catholics to reignite their faith, grow deeper in prayer, and inspire others – all with the community of Western Pennsylvania.

Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Camp & Retreat Center (OLMC) is an initiative of DBM in Volant, PA. Our goal is to provide young people in and around Pittsburgh with the effective, fun, and joyful opportunity to encounter Jesus Christ through an Adventure Camp and Retreat Center.

Position Summary

As a part of the OLMC team, Missionary Interns will live on-site at OLMC as a part of a small residential community. This group will live a joy-filled communal life of prayer and leisure, as well as work full-time. The work of the missionaries will be wide ranging and encompass all aspects of running a retreat center and summer camp for the glory of the Lord’s Kingdom.

Essential Duties:

● Be an engaged and positive member of the Catholic residential community at OLMC.
● During June & July, be a part of the OLMC Summer Staff; living with the other summer
staff and operating within the policies of summer programming.
● Help plan, prepare for, and facilitate programs for user groups throughout the school
year. This includes events that we fully run as well as helping groups to run their own
programs.
● Be on-site hospitality for user groups to ensure that they have an amazing experience at
OLMC.
● Contribute to the marketing & engagement efforts of OLMC through helping curate
content and manage social media accounts.
●Engage, oversee, and work with volunteers at OLMC.
● Assist with cleaning the facilities before and after each group so that guests’ experiences
are amazing.
● Travel as needed to market the programs, facilities, and staff needs of OLMC.
● Assist with projects on-site with regards to the maintenance and upkeep of facilities.
● Facilitate high and low ropes course elements as well as other experiential learning
activities that are used for evangelization. (Training is provided)
● Invest prayer, emotional energy, and tangible effort into loving the people of western PA
as Christ does (How does Christ love the people of Western PA?)

Qualification Requirements:

● Has an active faith in Jesus Christ, His Holy Catholic Church, and zeal for the
Gospel; Lives an active prayer life
● Have alacrity (an eager readiness) for living in community and working with the
same group of people in a more rural-based setting
● Possesses warm and effective interpersonal skills and ability to represent OLMC
and the Catholic Church in a variety of settings
● Have a desire to share the story of the gospel working in you and invite others
into the story
● Be a person of self-giving hospitality
● Have experience in relational evangelization and/or an eagerness to effectively
learn from our professional ministry team
● Enjoy working with children and families
● In cooperation with the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh and the State of
Pennsylvania, candidates are required to have current clearances to work with youth
